Island Tour
Offered Thursday, May 15 (FULL), and Friday, May 16

This tour is sure to give your guests an excellent overview of the Island and its natural attributes. Traveling in a luxury air-conditioned motor coach and stopping at several scenic stops, including Gun Hill Signal Station, St. Johns Parish, the East Coast, and Farley Hill National Park-this adventure is sure to please history buffs and island enthusiasts. We begin at Gun Hill, one of a chain of signal stations established across the island for security and for disseminating information mainly related to shipping. This spot affords one of the most enticing views of the southern end of the Island. The next stop, St. John's Parish Church, is an excellent example of a classic Gothic Church showcasing all the essentials of "the true church architecture." At the edge of Hackleton's cliff, with the appearance of almost being carved from the rock, St. John's is famous for its magnificent view of the rugged East Coast. Continuing through winding roads and past quaint villages to the East Coast and Bathsheba, we will catch glimpses of surfers attempting to conquer the Atlantic Ocean waves. Marvel at the magnificent coral rock formations decorate miles and miles of sandy beaches on the East Coast. Our next stop will be Farley Hill National Park, where we have the opportunity to explore what once was the fashionable 19th century home of Sir Graham Briggs. Location of the filming of the screen epic "Island In The Sun," with Harry Belafonte, Farley Hill was reduced to an ashen skeleton shortly after the movie was made. Now a national park, nestled in the middle of the northern part of Barbados, this will be an excellent opportunity to view both the tranquil West coast, and rugged East coasts of the Island.

Are you ready to cook Bajan-style? Sandy Lane's current Sous Chef, Timothy Walker, is ready to teach you how. Native to Barbados, Chef Timothy joined Sandy Lane seven years ago under the tutelage of the then Chef Mel Rumbles. His accomplishments include the Taste of Barbados at the James Beard Foundation, sometimes known as the stepping stone to some of the world's most famous chefs. Prior to joining the Sandy Lane, he not only worked at the Waldorff Astoria, but was Sous Chef at the Baku Restaurant in the Carenage Hotel on St. Vincent.
